Who Would Have Known We Needed A Water Softener System?Have you wondered what the white crusty build up is on all of your faucets? Do you have rust in your tub and sink? Is your laundry coming out dingy? Does your dishwasher have build up around the heating element? How does your water taste? Does it taste like it has metal in it? Hmmm, if you answer yes to any of these questions, you may soon realize you need a water softener system. While comparing some of the water softener systems, it is still a hard choice to decide which one belongs in your house. The first thing to know is fleck and autotrol are company parts within the water softener, they are not the product name itself. Calgon is an additive you can use with your laundry detergent to remove hard water minerals that trap dirt. Its very handy if you don't want to spend money on a whole system. The first water softener system to look at is the Waterboss Cityboss water softener model 950. It costs around $500 or a little more and is usually sold at Ace Hardware. The maximum hardness removed is 22,100 grains. It does not remove iron, but it does have a 12 volt transformer with it. This product stores up 160lbs of salt and has a three year warranty on mechanical parts. Waterboss products are made in the United States. The next water softener system to look at is the General Electric Model GXSF 18G. It costs around $475 and is usually readily available at Home Depot. The maximum hardnessit removes is 18,800 grains. It has 138lbs of salt storage and also has an audible alarm. The warranty is one year for the whole unit and 2 years on the electric motor. The Kenmore 350 series was the last water softener system to look at. There isn't a lot of information published about the Kenmore, but it does have high reviews. It cost around $500 and is available at Sears. It has electronic controls and a low salt alert system. The warranty is one year on parts and labor. Kenmore just seems to be a trusted product. Wow! Researching water softener systems can be confusing and a little rewarding. It's interesting to know that most systems have the same product brands on the inside. Fleck valve controls can be in all three of the above systems as well as Autotrol brand parts. Who would have known that a water softener system is needed in the house?
